As Computer system, Telecommunications systems and Digital systems are improved and moved forward to these systems, the used of Data and applications is very important for the successful business.
The operations of the business are become digitalized and the applications are the main components of the business. To run these applications, servers and storages are more required. Then, it is changed as a virtual machine. (Can read at Virtualization Content).
Virtual machines depend and build on the servers. So,

3️⃣ Security devices to keep the data with a high-security level,
4️⃣ Power supply devices, Air conditioning devices and extinguisher devices and so on… these devices are located and hosted at one building with full of facilities. The business people and the management people at the organization have always Business Continuity Plan. The main components of the business, computerized system, and applications should not have the downtime and it is very difficult to maintain. If the data center has downtime due to something, there will be an impact on the part or whole of the business.
If the Data Center is crashed by something, all the applications are not accessible at that time. For the Data Center crash, the reason can be caused by human error and disasters. If the Data Center come down, how can we continue running? For this case, we should have a backup plan. If the disaster occurred at the primary Data Center, we must do recover automatically from the other and business impact must be zero. So, there has the Disaster Recovery (DR) solution.
One of the choices of DR solution is having the secondary Data Center.
If data from primary Data Center loss occurs, we can get by using the backup process. (*For the Back-up solution, you can read at the backup content.*). And then, Data Center backup is called the Disaster Recovery (DR) solution.
In DR solution, the applications of the data, running on the Data Center, are syncing and replicating to secondary DC (DR site). If the primary DC down, DR will run with the synced data.
For the DR solution, there are a lot of facts to consider as fast step. Basically, we should know the RPO and RTO and their differences and their definitions.
Recovery Point Objective (RPO) is the time duration between Actual Data loss and having data backup time.
Otherwise, time taken for data loss happening. Means that, is the replication time the data to DR site real-time or every 5 minutes or every 10 minutes, etc? The main consideration is based on the data syncing and replication time. Syncing in real time means sending the data continuously from DC site o DR site. If the data is syncing in real time, the data loss will be zero. If data syncing time is within every 5 minutes, the data loss can happen for the previous 5 minutes. Recovery time object (RTO) is the Actual Recovery Period. The time taken to run from the DR site is based on the application nature of the organization. Eg: 5 to 10 minutes.
If the DR plan and DR solution do not have, it can have a lot of impacts on business and it can mention as the system running with the wrong condition. Some organization has a DR solution, but it is the same place as DC site. In this case, it is also the wrong solution. Instinctive disaster and electricity problems can impact on both DC and DR.
Now, DR solution can run not only at on-premise but also on the cloud. Running the DR solution on the cloud is also an effective way.
And then, I’ll present the facts to consider on DR solution.
➡ The most important is the RPO and RTO. And you should choose the best solution.
➡ The distance between the DC site and DR site. If so closed between DC and DR, disaster can be affected by both.
➡ The most important parts of the DR solution is to provide the best security solution. Need to good in both Physical security and IT security.
➡ And, there is a need to provide the best RPO and RTO in DR solution.
➡ And then, need to test drilling for DR solution every 6 months. So, if the disaster occurs actually, we can know how the DR solution can work successfully. Therefore, the choosing of the best solution provider is very important as the very first time.
